GLOBAL CONNECTIONS- On May 3, 2022 for their second Global Connections session, Claremont School in Ossining, New York shared a virtual Culture and Traditions lesson with Escuela de Educacion Basica Nicolas Sojos in Cuenca, Ecuador. The fourth grade dual-language classroom from Ossining and the fourth grade students from Cuenca presented and learned about each other’s unique and diverse cultures. There were 24 students in the Ossining classroom and 32 students in the Cuenca Classroom.

This cultural exchange was filled with special moments from beginning to end. For the students in Cuenca it was impressive to learn that their global peers came from many different backgrounds and some had multiple cultural backgrounds as their parents and grandparents came from different countries around the world. For the students in Ossining, it was enriching to see the interesting and colorful culture that their global peers from Cuenca have. The students from Cuenca wore various traditional clothing to show their peers. A highlight for everyone was when the students from Cuenca presented on “Food” and they brought in the actual food to show us. Everyone was amazed to see the delicious looking dishes that were brought in, we could almost smell them.
