Westchester Green County kicked off another year of Climate Action with a new engagement strategy.
In the spirit of ambitious collaboration, the FIRST TUESDAY series of webinars features student and regional leaders throughout the county to share their work and identify ways to work together. As always, the WGC model of MEASURE-REDUCE-ROADMAP-OFFSET is offered as a way for schools to reduce their carbon footprint while empowering students in the fight against climate change.
The launch event on October 1st featured Bedford 2030’s Greenlight Award Program Manager Louise Alverson, introducing the awards as an entry point for high school students to take their action to the next level.
The WGC team will continue facilitating this series via Zoom once every month. On November 12th at 8:30pm, they will feature Carter Medved, a High School student from Edgemont High School and WGC member. He will present his Greenlight Award-winning project “Powering Families Through Sustainability“, working with Sustainable Westchester to advance the GridRewards program. The GridRewards program uses an app to provide users with energy efficiency insights to reduce energy usage. GridRewards provides cash rewards for reducing energy use during high demand periods.
