One World and East New York Middle School of Excellence in Brooklyn, New York have collaborated for the second year to bring the Academic Accelerator program to ELL students.
The program began as a pilot in 2023 with ten ELL 8th grade students who were struggling with both English and Math. The students met remotely with our teacher over the course of 3 months. The results of these tutorials were beyond what was expected!
Of those 10 students, all 10 improved their grades dramatically and 6 achieved excellent results on their state standardized tests.
We are very grateful to the school and the students for facilitating this pilot and we congratulate all the students on their results.
This year (2024) we had the immense fortune of partnering with the school again and to implement the program not as a pilot, but as part of the school curriculum.
Over the course of 4 months, 28 ELL students from 6th, 7th and 8th grade took the program remotely with our teacher during school hours. Student performance and achievement was beyond our expectations. Students and teachers reported significant improvements in all students who took the tutoring sessions.
Our students took their test on May 6 and 7 and we hope that everyone gets magnificent results like last year.
We wish our 8th grade students much success for the next chapter in their lives and can’t wait to collaborate with the amazing students next school year!
