THE FUTURE OF HUMANITY
From Scarcity to Sustainable Super Abundance
A One World Global Conversation
📅 Global Kickoff: Saturday, February 28 | 8:00 AM EST | Virtual
Why This Matters
Humanity stands at a crossroads, or at the Hinge of History.
Dramatic advances in technology and AI have provided humanity with tools that, if properly used, can bring an end to poverty, hunger, disease, and the need to work.
At the same time, the organization created in part by Einstein and Oppenheimer, the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, is telling us that we are living at the most dangerous time in human history.
Our Cosmic Choice: The fundamental question facing every living being on Planet Earth today is:
How do we responsibly transition from here to there?
Here: 193 nation-states armed to the teeth, locked in a hyper-competitive battle, leading to $2.7 trillion in military expenditures for the purpose of developing weapons of mass destruction, aimed at our neighbors.
There: A post-scarcity “solved world” of high universal income where humanity as a whole will have eliminated poverty, hunger, disease, and the need to work.
The goal of this global conversation is to encourage high school students and educators to fill the gap left by the futurists and use all of their skills and talents to design a roadmap or pathway of how humanity successfully transitions from a disconnected, post-scarcity world to a post-scarcity solved world of Super Abundance.
What This Is
One World is inviting High School students and educators from across the world to participate in a conversation on the future of humanity to answer the question raised above: how do we get from the disconnected, disjointed world of today to the world of Sustainable Super Abundance, which dramatic advances in technology have made available to us?
We want you and your students to have as much freedom as possible to design their solutions and pathways, providing their respective roadmaps of how we get from here to there.
Our goal is to create a structured international learning initiative and conversation where students and educators:
Our hope is to use this work as the basis for our next book. All student and school participants will receive a certificate of completion of this work and will also be named in the book if that is of interest.
Prizes: We will offer scholarship prizes for three of the roadmaps presented. The amount will depend on the final number of participants.
How It Works
Our goal is to provide your school and students with as much freedom and latitude to undertake this work as well as to provide you with considered support throughout the process.
