Dear One Worlders,
Tomorrow marks a first for One World: we’re organizing an event to coincide with the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists’ annual Doomsday Clock announcement.
Join us tomorrow January 27th on Zoom at 10 am for the live announcement, followed by our own discussion at 10:30 am as we launch our global conversation on the future of humanity.
The Challenge
We face a paradox: civilizational threats are growing, yet technological advances offer us an unprecedented opportunity to eliminate poverty, hunger, and disease—to reach a world of Super Abundance.
JFK articulated this challenge in 1961: “Man holds in his mortal hands the power to abolish all forms of human poverty and all forms of human life.”
Sixty-five years later, the opportunity to eliminate poverty is clearer than ever, yet the Bulletin tells us we’re 5 minutes and 31 seconds closer to catastrophe.
How Will We Get From Here to There
Which path we take depends on us—on you and me.
Here: 193 nation states, $2.7 trillion in annual military spending, 89 seconds to midnight.
There: A post-scarcity world of universal high income, optional work, conquered disease, and expansion to the stars.
Many futurists paint this vision, but few explain how we get there. We want to bridge that gap by inviting high school educators and students worldwide to join our Co-Creators of the Universe future of humanity conversation.
Interested? Contact us at info@oneworlduv.com
We hope to see you tomorrow at 10 am or 10:30 am.
Best regards,
Joe
