About Service Learning
Through Service Learning, One World Youth Club members are empowered to feel that one person can make a difference in their school, their community, and their world and that regardless of their age, gender, race/ethnicity or socio-economic status, that they can be that person.
Over the years some of the example service learning projects include Habitat for Humanity, Pennies for Peace, Toy Drives for children living in shelters, school-wide kindness and anti-bullying programs, relief efforts after disasters and many more worthy causes. One club even “adopted” a young man in Africa and has raised the equivalent of one year’s income for the family.
The results of service learning projects speak for themselves and many clubs have received media coverage for their efforts. These efforts inspire the One World organization to continue to work hard to secure funding so our One Worlders can keep changing the world, for the better.
It is at the discretion of the Advisor to teach Service Learning and how to help club members explore and decide on one or more service learning projects for the program year. View the Lesson Plan below for more direction.
