Syrian-Turkish tensions are of increasing concern within region

Syrian Crisis
Lakhdar Brahimi, the United Nations special envoy for Syria, arrived in Turkey on Saturday to meet with officials in an attempt to calm growing tensions after interception of a plane suspected of carrying illegal weapons to Syria.

The tensions are increasing concerns among regional neighbors because Turkey has been providing shelter to Syria’s opposition forces and many see the Turkish and Syrian conflict as a proxy war between the Assad regime and its allies (Russia and Iran) and anti-Assad nations, including Europe and the US.

In other developments, Syrian opposition claims it gained control of a government missile base on Saturday, while refugees are begin to prepare for what is sure to be a long, cold winter.
