Major developments in Syrian civil war
ABC News reports that Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebarii has issued a warning that Al-Qaida is sending insurgents into Syria to carry out attacks on the opposition. The UN, proving ineffective to resolve the crisis, has issued another warning that the violence has reached “unprecedented levels.”
The increasing violence and its brutal nature may be having an impact as more reports emerge of high-level defections in the regime of Bashar al-Assad, meet, reports the New York Times.
The violence also is resulting in a rising flow of refugees into neghboring Jordan and creating a crisis in itself.
