Syrian regime growing more brutal as UN acknowledges the situation as full-scale civil war
As the United Nations used the term “civil war” for the first time, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton cast doubt on Russia’s claim that its shipment of helicopters to Syria would not be used against the opposition. The UN also claimed Syria was using children as “human shields” and was engaging in wholesale torture and abuse of children.
“We are concerned about the latest information we have that there are attack helicopters on the way from Russia to Syria, which will escalate the conflict quite dramatically,” Clinton said, but insisted the solution must be political.
As Russian President Vladimir Putin was dealing with international condemnation of its actions in Syria, Putin was facing troubles on the domestic front as well. Thousands of protestors came out onto the streets of Moscow to renew its objections to what they deem an illegitimate election.
