Pressure increasing on Syria in wake of reports of another massacre
Reports of another massacre in Syria may increase pressure on the regime of President Bashar al-Assad as senior officials from the Obama administration met to discuss the worsening situation. On Wednesday, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner took the unusual step of speaking on a foreign policy matter, warning Syria of the consequences of its actions.
However, China and Russia once again moved in a direction at odds with the international community by urging the oposition forces to move toward embracing the peace plan being pushed by UN envoy Kofi Annan.
