A solution remains elusive in Syria as attacks continue
United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon has spoken out against the violence being perpetuated by loyalists to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. Again. His previous pleas have failed to silence the guns and recent reports of a mortar attack that killed as many as 90 people, including children, reflects the need for the international community to reevaluate their strategy.
Unfortunately, Ban admitted that the UN does not have a Plan B in the works. The UN will be dispatching their observers to the attack site, yet no one is sure what that will accomplish besides documenting the horror of Assad’s regime.
This week, Russia warned of the consequences of violence spreading into Lebanon, but was quick to lay blame on the doorstep of Western nations for supporting opposition forces.
