Greek austerity plan met with violence

The fires that were burning were not in Rome, but in Athens – a reflection of the challenges facing Greece in the wake of the Parliament’s approval of an austerity bill, reports Reuters.

Greek Prime Minister Lucas Papademos’ government is being forced to identify an additional 325 million euros in budget savings by Euro zone leader after receiving a $172 billion bailout, the goal of which was to save Greece from defaulting.

The Financial Times reported on Monday that Papademos was preparing a reshuflling of his cabinet sometime before euro zone leaders meet on Wednesday.
