After much debate, nations agree to climate change goals
Nearly two day past the scheduled conclusion of global climate change talks in Durban, South Africa, an agreement was hammered between out a deal to start negotiations on treaty to replace the Kyoto Protocol is due to expire in 2012. The new agreement would legally bind the participants to carry out any pledges they make.
In another move, they also reached consensus on a commitment to establish a fund to direct $100 billion in annual pledges by 2020 to mitigate the impact of climate change in poor countries. Read more about the historic agreement in The Washington Post.
