Shifting global economic trends force development agencies to adapt
Development agencies and non-governmental organization have been forced to adjust to the global economic crisis by shifting its focus on donors from Europe to China and Asia.
Lars Thunell, head of the International Finance Corporation, the World Bank’s private sector arm, tells the Financial Times, “The trends that we saw even before the financial crisis, with the world becoming more multi-polar, with growth centres in various places and with increasing differentiation of income distribution and inequality – those trends are accelerating.”
