Economic inequality may be the biggest challenge facing the US

For many years the United States has been a nation where parents could imagine their children would fair better than they did. Former Treasury Secertary Larry Summers takes to the opinion pages of the Financial Times to argue that the dream may be ending.

“According to the best available information, intergenerational mobility in the US is now poor by global standards and probably for the first time no longer improving,” he writes.
